Chief Scout Gold Award
The leaders of 2nd Chilton are proud to inform you that 5 of our scouts have recently been awarded the highest award available with in the scout section. Harry N, Matt D, Jasmine, Oliver and Joe have all received the Chief Scout Gold award for their hard work since being at the troop. The award is given when a scout achieves 8 of the 9 scout challenge badges. These can involve looking at international issues, learning how to light fires correctly, know how to use an axe and penknife safely, camping......lots of camping and getting involved in hikes etc. The scouts have also been involved with community work such as litter picks and helping tidy the church yard. This is a fantastic achievement a great for the troop. Well done scouts and congratulations.
2nd Annual Paper Plane Competition
Well done to Miles for his well earned victory with this years paper plane competition. After an initial flight which drew with Chris B a re-throw was undertaken and Miles took the title. Well done Miles.
Frostbite Camp and Kevin's Investiture
In Dec 2010 twelve intrepid scouts took part in our coldest camp yet. With temperatures well below zero degrees our scouts attending the camp in Youlbury for a camp involving rifle shooting and 3G swing over the course of the weekend. Chilton were the only scouts foolish enough good enough to camp that weekend with all other troops cancelling there attendance. But our troop worked through it and had a great time. During the weekend we invested our newest leader Kevin to the troop. Kev's leaders profile will be undated shortly. Welcome to the troop Kev. Pictures will be uploaded to the camp page asap.
RNLI and Remembrance Parade
The scouts enjoyed a fantastic trip to the RNLI HQ in Poole, Dorset. 8 Scouts set off early Saturday morning where the fun started at the Splashdown swimming pool. the Scouts enjoyed a morning of flumes and rides before stopping for lunch and heading to the RNLI where Chris showed us round their fantastic facility. The visit included a look at the store yard, a tour of the life saving training pool and a look around a Seven class lifeboat. The day was finished with a meal at a local Harvester where the scouts enjoyed the unlimited coke available. Pictures will follow soon
Also, many thanks to all those scouts who turned up on Sunday to attend the Remembrance day parade and service at the church. It was great to see so many Scouts attend and there was some great comments from the congregation. Thanks all.
11/10/10 - KEVIN LEWIS
Some of you may have seen or heard from the Scouts about our latest leadership member who has helped out over the last few weeks. So we thought it about time we introduce him to you. Kevin (Kev) has been assisting the troop since our CTT camp back in the summer. Kev has been well and truely hooked by the scouting bug and seems to want to stay. Dave asked him along to CTT as he knew Kev had some time off work and had no plans to fill this time! He managed to attend for 4 days and seemed to have liked the experience so much we can't get rid of him. Kev currently works as an electrical engineer designing lighting and power systems for different buildings such as schools, offices, houses and shops. He has filled in the necessary new occassional helper forms so is able to assist scouts under guidance from us. Who knows, perhaps we'll get him in a uniform soon! Welcome aboard Kev
13/09/10 Car Wash, Church Tidy and Cake Sale
Hello All. Well................what a fantastic troop we've got. This is a huge THANK YOU to all those scouts who braved the weather and helped out with the car wash and church tidy last Saturday. We did a great job on clearing the churches french drain, collecting up leaves and grass cuttings and tending to the gravel path. A car wash ended up a great success with nearly £120 raised. Couple this with the cake sale takings and we raised over £200 for the troop. A special thank you goes to Alison and Rose for their brilliant help on the cake sale. Well done everyone
