BadgesMembership Award  The Membership Award is one of the first badges you work towards. It allows you to find out what Scouts and Scouting is all about. . Group Name TapeThe Group Name Tape tells people exactly what group you come from. Some Groups which have more than one Troop may have an additional tape underneath to distinguish your Troop. At Chilton we only have one troop "2nd Chilton" . District and County BadgesThe UK is split into Counties and Areas. Each County has its own badge. The County is then further split into Districts. These badges serve to pinpoint your location in the UK. . Challenge Awards    There are nine challenges which the Scout work towards. The Challenges complement the balanced programme and have been developed to extend Scouts' skills and experience. The Challenges are Outdoor, Outdoor Plus, Adventure, Community, Creative, Expedition, Fitness, Global and Promise. . Activity Badges    Activity Badges provide an opportunity to reward a young person who has taken part in an activity over a period of time. They raise interest and extend a young person's skills throughout their time in Scouting. There are 69 Activity Badges in the Scout Section. In addition there are six Staged Activity Badges which can be taken across all the Sections. These are Emergency Aid, Hikes Away, Information Technology, Musician, Nights Away and Swimming. . Group Awards  Group Awards are aimed at bringing a whole Scout Group (or Sections within a Scout Group) together to work towards and achieve an award. They also promote activities within the Balanced Programmes of each Section. There are three Group Awards; Faith, Environment and International. . Chief Scout Gold Award  The Chief Scout Gold Award is the highest award available in the Scout Section. It is awarded if a Scout can achieve the Promise Challenge, Community Challenge, Fitness Challenge, Creative Challenge, Global Challenge and Outdoor Challenge. Plust two of the following three Adventure Challenge, Expedition Challenge or Outdoor Plus Challenge. . Participation Awards   The Participation Awards recognise a commitment to Scouting. They celebrate a Scouts participation in a Balanced Programme over a period of time. These badges are not section specific. They recognise the length of time a young person has been a Member of the Scout Movement, rather than as a member of any individual section. . Moving On Awards  The Moving On Award is presented to a Scout when they are invested into the Explorer Unit. The Investiture should take place on their first official meeting as an Explorer Scout.
