RNLI Poole 09
A selection from our troop were lucky enough to spend an afternoon at the RNLI head quarters in Poole, Dorest. In the morning we went to Poole park to try out the orienteering course. They have a permanent course set up in the park maintained by Wessex Orienteering Club. More info can be discovered here. After our lunch we headed off to the RNLI were we got to explore the HQ. This included looking though the store sheds, checking out the fire training pod, learning how to throw a safety rope correctly and looking around the boat yard. We even got to go on a lifeboat and explore the cabin and engine room. At the end of the trip we went into the building which houses the training pool to watch a demonstration video and the patrol leaders got to try out the life saving gear. We had a great day. Thanks to all at the RNLI head quaters and Chris Adams.
